According to Akamai’s Q4 2016 State of the Internet Report, there was a 0.1% quarterly increase in the number of unique IPv4 addresses connecting to the Akamai Intelligent Platform.

However, this reflects an overall decrease compared with last year.  More than 3 million IPv4 addresses were drawn down from the RIR free pools, leaving about 42 million free pool IPv4 addresses available.   IPv6 adoption continues to accelerate with cable and wireless providers leading the pack.
