In its second quarter “State of the Internet Report,” Akamai notes IPv4 connections to Akamai worldwide showed an increase in unique IPv4 address global usage of 2.8%.
In its second quarter “State of the Internet Report,” Akamai found that although IPv4 connections to Akamai worldwide fell by 1.1% since last quarter, approximately 70% of countries and regions, globally, had higher IPv4 address counts compared against Akamai’s Q2 2014 report, for a total increase in unique IPv4 address global usage of 2.8%.
Among the top 10 countries with IPv4 usage, the countries with the greatest increases in usage of unique IPv4 addresses since last year were the UK (15%) and Japan (13%) whereas the countries with the greatest declines were the U.S. (3.6%) and Germany (3.3%).
Cable and wireless/mobile providers continue to drive the largest volumes of IPv6 requests with the U.S.’s Comcast, AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Time Warner Cable leading the pack. READ MORE.
