IPv4 network continues to grow globally; busy IPv4 transfer market makes its way into the data
In its most recent State of the Internet report, Akamai finds that although IPv4 address space is increasingly scarce as the RIRs' free pools shrink, the IPv4 network continues to grow globally.
The report attributes growth in the ARIN region in particular to a busy transfer market.
At the same time, cable and mobile providers are driving IPv6 deployment in Europe and the U.S. In the U.S., significant IPv6 networks include Comcast, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Time Warner Cable and Facebook.
