IANA transition planning is underway.

Signaling a historic shift in Internet governance, the United States announced on March 14, 2014, that it plans to transition its IANA functions role to the “global multi-stakeholder community."  While much of the focus is on domain name-related functions, IP number allocations and technical coordination are also important IANA functions.  For updates on IANA transition planning activities, see https://www.nro.net/nro-and-internet-governance/iana-oversight.
