IPv4 network continues to grow in 2015 notwithstanding near global IPv4 free pool exhaustion.
In his annual report on IP addressing, Geoff Huston concludes that the Internet has arrived as the established norm and not the “poster child of disruption.” Although demand for public IPv4 addresses is low due to free pool exhaustion in all but Africa, in fact there is continued large scale growth in the IPv4 network due to usage of Carrier Grade NATs by mobile service providers. There was no similar large scale deployment of IPv6 in 2015.
