IPv6 adoption has not yet reached an inflexion point; uncertainty remains as to the ultimate outcomes of the adoption effort.

In his February 2021  IPv6 update, Geoff Huston digs into the bigger picture on the IPv6 transition.  In the course of IPv6's slow adoption it may already have aged into a model less suited to today's Internet than a new network architecture promoting access to replicated service and content delivery points. Service environments that continue to operate in an IPv4-only mode suit are not feeling the market pushback some expected.
